My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Poet! Poet is a sweet older girl rescued from a Florida high kill shelter on her last day before euthanasia. She is definitely a people dog and absolutely adores her human companions. When she's around humans, she wiggles her tail so much, the back half of her body wiggles with it! On the other hand, she is not a fan of small dogs or cats - her prey drive is strong. Poet truly prefers to be the star of her family. This includes being around them the majority of the day as she does suffer from separation anxiety. She is spayed, current on all vaccines and micro chipped. Do yourself a favor and make this girl the happiest dog on the planet by making her your furever companion today!

Additional adoption info

We believe our dogs deserve the best homes, so all prospective adopters must have good references and agree to a home visit. All our dogs are vaccinated, microchipped and spayed or neutered. An adoption fee is charged to help defray veterinarian and other expenses. We have promised our babies that they will never have to worry again, so adopters will sign a contract agreeing to take good care of the animal, and if an adoption doesn't work out for any reason, the animal MUST be returned to Barkie's Legacy.

More about this rescue

We've rescued stray dogs or those in high-kill shelters whose time is up and adopt them out to loving homes. We are amazed at the amount of dogs that are unwanted, unloved or abused, so we're trying to make a difference one dog at a time!
