Here's what the humans have to say about me:
My name is Cookies, and I am an XXL 5 yo long haired Shepherd mix. My human friends call me a gentle giant because I weigh around 90 pounds but think I am a lap dog.
I was surrendered to a kill shelter with my little dog friend and ended up on death row. My friend was adopted without me which made me so sad. Luckily, I was saved from the shelter and am currently in a boarding facility while I wait for a family of my very own. It feels like I have been waiting FOREVER.
As you can see from my videos below, I am a sweet, affectionate, treat motivated dog. My pictures offering my rescuer my paw and giving him kisses are adorable.
My rescue has been working with me in boarding, and they say I love to play with stuffed toys and squeaky balls. They have to watch me carefully with balls and toys because I love to destroy them and then eat the evidence. I recently had a great day hanging out with another dog in the rescue. Check out my videos.
If you want to meet me, you can contact Martina Animal Rescue at martinaanimalrescue@yahoo.com or text Laura at 916-996-5777. I'm located in Martinez, CA
Application, home check and adoption fee required.

More about this rescue
We are a non-profit rescue organization who helps rescue dogs and sometimes other animals from Contra Costa Animal Services as well as other local shelters; usually the scared, overlooked or often the ones off the euthanasia list. We also rescue dogs who have been injured or abandoned trying to keep them from having to go into the shelter after looking for an owner. We then place them in foster homes to decompress and learn to be part of a family as well as learn structure and boundaries. If needed and we can, we also have trainers that help prepare our dogs for adoption.
