My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Damon loves the car and is great traveling companion! If you are often on the go or want a pup to go places with you, Damon is your ride or died dude! He will have a great time and you will have the best co-pilot!  Once you get to your destination, Damon will certainly be happy as the center of attention of sitting back check it all in. He is happy to introduce himself to strangers with a tail wag and pep in his step.

Would your laid back dog like a new furry sibling? Damon would love a home with another dog to romp around in the house or fenced yard. A fence isn't required as long as he gets daily play time and walks. He is really good on a leash. If out walking, smelling the world around him, and he seems something intersting, he is very easily redirected as well.

Damon loves to learn new tricks. So far he has learned "sit" and "house" (crate) and we are working on and "lay down (he does it most of the time)." We believe Damon is just super smart and treats definitely help the motivation! He even listens well to young children with to sit on command with something as simple as a piece of popcorn. What a doll he is!

Damon would love a nice comfy, fluffy bed because he loves to nap as much as he loves to play. He can be quite the couch potato and enjoys chillin' out while you work, watch TV, or read a book. He is quite the velcro dog in a lot of ways; loves to be with his people; getting love, attention and belly rubs! He really isn't a huge fan of being left alone, so a family that has school or work from home, retired, or a pretty flexible home schedule will be the best fit for snuggle boy Damon.

He can also be a "sous chef" in the kitchen. If you are cooking, he won't hesitate to be as "helpful" as he can possible be; don't turn your back because he is happy to be a "taste tester"!

He gets a long nicely with all the doggies he has met and even does ok with the kitties! Stranger isn't a word Damon understands as he has been friendly with everyone he has met. Damon has been good around kids but his size may not be good for very little kids just to avoid an accident of knocking one down.

He shares his toys well but can also be known for hogging them up.  Maybe he didn't have a lot of toys in his previous life and is just so happy to have so many options, soft, squeaky, tug-o-war, etc. He loves to take the soft toys and tear them apart. It's a fun and playful "how fast can I get this done" kind of a thing. Pretty sure he is smiling the whole time!

(DOB 07/30/2021) As part of Damon's $300 adoption fee, he is neutered, microchipped, up to date on age appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. Heartworm tested negative.   If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Damon, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

1. Review the description of the pet you are interested in to make sure that the information we have fits with your particular needs and desires. In most cases, the information on the website is current and gives the information that we have about the particular pet. The picture of the pet does not tell the whole story.

2. Complete the adoption application. Please make sure that you give us as much information about yourself as you can. List all animals currently living with you including other dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, and rodents. The application needs to be complete in order to help us determine if the pet you have chosen is a good match for your home. http://pawsforlifenc.org/pet-adoptions/apply-for-adoption/

3. Once the application is submitted we will contact you, your references, and your vet.

4. We require a home visit prior to dog adoptions.

5. If more than one person applies, we will go with the BEST fit. If all things are equal, we go in the order the applications were received.

6. Once the home visit has been completed, you will be asked to complete an adoption agreement.

7. An adoption fee of $275 for dogs under 6 months $250 for 6 months and older and $95 for cats, Senior Cats $50. This fee helps us to provide the necessary medical care and other needs for the pets while in foster care.

8. All Paws For Life pets are spayed or neutered if old enough, current on shots, micro chipped, and to our knowledge, in good health before they are adopted out. Puppies under 6 months of age will require a $100 spay/neuter deposit in addition to the adoption fee and a special puppy spay/neuter agreement. We are all volunteers and receive no monetary compensation for our work with the pets. The adoption fee is used to help defray costs in the rescue and care of the pets.

9. Congratulations! You are on your way to having your new companion. We hope that you and your new companion share a life of love and happiness. We welcome any comments you may wish to give us about your pet at any time.
