My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

This gorgeous little tank is Blu! He's a fun, goofy, sweetheart who CRAVES human companionship. Blu is currently in boarding & he wants nothing more than to be in a home with people! Every volunteer who's met him has instantly fallen in love with his happy, puppy-like wonder at the world around him. Blu will be happy doing whatever his people are doing; exploring, going for walks, playing or just hanging out together.

Blu was kept in a barn before becoming a Diamond, so he was never given the opportunity to learn all the things dogs usually get to learn as a part of a family. Luckily he's as smart as he is cute, eager to please & highly treat motivated so training should be pretty easy. But he is a strong little guy, so he'll need someone strong enough to handle him while helping him learn leash manners. Check out his video below to see him sitting, giving paw & gently taking treats like a champ!

We know Blu liked dogs before he was attacked by one who was resource guarding. Our boy Blu is a lover, not a fighter so we have to assume he may be somewhat dog selective going forward; as always a meet & greet with resident & frequently visiting dogs facilitated by a DITR volunteer is required. Cats are unknown. If you have a cat(s) DITR will facilitate a safe, no contact "cat test" with Blu and your cat(s) as part of the approval process.

Blu has never lived with children and has no idea of his strength, so we're recommending only older, respectful children (13+ yrs) at this time.

Because this sweetie had a rough start at life, he needs someone willing to provide the love, time & patience needed to properly decompress & transition from barn/boarding life to a loving home. Our dog team will be happy to provide guidance. You can also check out the "Two Weeks - The Adjustment Period" document link above the foster & adoption application section on our homepage.

As proof of how much everyone loves Blu; his adoption fee will be covered for his forever home. PLEASE consider opening your heart & home to foster or adopt this sweet meatball! We know he's going to thrive with a loving family in safe, warm home!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We require each applicant to complete an adoption application, followed by a home visit. We also contact personal and veterinarian references. We want to make sure that the next home our furbabies go to, is their last, and that they will be loved like a member of the family.

We are a foster based rescue, but do also have a small shelter. You can contact us at diamondunderdogs@yahoo.com to setup an appointment to come out and check out some of our adoptables.

More about this rescue

Diamonds in the Ruff Animal Rescue is a non profit animal rescue organization that is run by a dedicated group of volunteers. Our mission is to protect the welfare of animals, one life at a time, from unnecessary euthanasia. From high kill shelters to foster homes to caring adoptive families, Diamonds in the Ruff handles every aspect of the rescue process. Our animals are examined, vaccinated, spayed or neutered and receive necessary medical treatment. Foster homes are used to provide sanctuary and ensure a successful placement. Our goal is to make the adoption process a kind, informative and rewarding experience because we believe that every animal can become a treasured family pet.

Why we do it:
4 million animals are euthanized each year in the United States.
That is 300,000 a month
Over 11,000 each day
Diamonds in the Ruff Animal Rescue works tirelessly to decrease this statistic.
