My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hazel is currently in training with the HOPE program so she can be her very best doggie self for her new family. You can keep up with all the things she is learning here, get ready to be impressed: https://www.hopedogs.org/dogs/hazel/

Are you looking for a new adventure partner to help you achieve your New Year resolution to become more active? Hazel is the perfect dog for you! She loves exploring on walks and loves playing with tennis balls even more! Hazel came to us after some concerned neighbors reached out trying to find a better home for her.

Hazel would love to have a fenced in yard where she can run around and play fetch! She hopes her new family doesn't mind her ball obsession, but she has been learning to return the ball when playing so we can throw it again for her - she's a smart one! Hazel is young (2-3 years old) and has a lot of energy, so she is looking for an active family that can take her on hikes, long walks, and other outdoor adventures! She has even tried her paw at agility training and absolutely loves it! Once given the chance to exercise Hazel also loves a good snuggle. Hazel is the perfect size, about 50 lbs. A family with working dog experience is preferred.

Hazel would do well in a home with older children that are dog savvy. She does have a very strong prey drive, so a home without cats and other small animals is needed. Hazel has been dog selective, but we think a home where she is your one and only pet would be best.

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process encompasses several steps in an attempt to ensure the best possible placement of an animal with the most appropriate home. In addition to an application and time spent with the dog of interest, a home visit with the candidate is also a step in the adoption. We do charge an adoption fee as well as require the execution of an adoption agreement.

More about this rescue

Canine Rescue of Central PA, Inc. is a nonprofit 501c(3), all-volunteer organization dedicated to providing assistance to any dog in a helpless situation. While a young organization, we have made tremendous progress in establishing another valuable resource for our furry friends. It is our mission to get involved in as many situations as possible to provide sanctuary, shelter, and homes to as many dogs as we can. We also are very focused on creating strategic partnerships with other rescues and similar organizations in an attempt to share resources as well as expand public awareness of the overwhelming problem of homeless animals.
