My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

In MIlton, DE
Hi, my name is Sawyer Brown. I am a 3 yr. old Australian Shepherd who is neutered, up to date on vaccinations and preventatives and microchipped. I am currently 63 lbs., but on a diet to help trim my waistline.

I found my world turned upside down this year. I was taken to an animal shelter under unfortunate circumstances. I lost my human parents to murder/suicide. It was a very confusing time with lots of strangers coming into my home. Luckily, ASF saved me, and I went to a foster home so I could decompress and learn to love people again.

My foster home has two female dogs and a cat. I like to play with my foster sisters, and I occasionally like to chase the cat (but I never hurt her). I can sit, lie down and I know what “leave it” means. I also love to go for car rides.

I love my fenced in back yard where my foster family plays fetch with me! I love all toys, but also like to chew them. I am a very good boy in the home and am house trained and a gentleman at feeding time. I can be crated or left out and I love to snuggle on the couch or bed. I do get anxious when my foster family goes out and leaves me home, but I do not destroy anything. I am still afraid of strangers coming into the home and will bark a lot, so I will need a family with patience and experience to help me become a more social dog. I have not been around any children except on walks, so no young children please. Some people on my walks scare me so it is best to keep me moving until I am comfortable with my surroundings. I need more walks to get used to everything.

Do you have experience helping a traumatized pup like me? Do you have a quiet home without a lot of strangers? Do you have a fenced back yard to play an endless game of fetch? Do you have lots of love and patience for me? I just want a loving, furever family to guide me through my fears. I will give you 100% love in return!

Sawyer is being fostered in Milton, DE and requires a meet and greet. Potentially more than 1 meet and greet if possible.
