My story

Alejandro here! I thought I’d take a break from being hard at work in the office to remind everyone the SPCA has some really great F.I.V cats available for adoption!

Don’t know what F.I.V is? I know all about it! I found out I had it when coming to the SPCA but they told me not to worry, I’ll be just fine. FIV just means that my immune system is not as strong as regular cats'. FIV is a strictly cat thing - it's spread by deep, penetrating bite wounds and cannot be given to people, dogs, marmots, or pandas. But it means that very gradual introductions to other cats are required to make sure that everyone gets along and is content!

FIV cannot be spread through mutual grooming, sharing dishes or litter boxes, regular roughhousing, joint credit accounts, or one cat trying to squish into a shoebox that is already occupied by another cat.

I know I speak for all the guys here who also have F.I.V that we also require lots of love and positive reinforcement such as being told regularly that we are good cats, that we are pretty cats, that we are the bestest cats.

(While there are some great cats up for adoption, I’d just like to point out that I too am ready for my furr-ever home. I’m 4 years old, neutered, and up-to-date on my vaccines…whatever those are. They also tell me all F.I.V cats are only $35 thanks to our F.I.V to H.O.M.E.S discount.)
