My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Nova is an 8 year old female who weighs 61 lbs.  She was picked up by animal control with another dog and neither were claimed despite being microchipped.  Nova is friendly and easy going, take treats gently, and knows basic commands.  She gets along with the other dogs in her foster home but may need a slow intro with other animals.  Please email rescueblackdogs@yahoo.com to apply to adopt.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The first step in our adoption process is to fill out an adoption application, we do check Vet references and personal references. Once processed we then do a home visit and met and greet. We do have an adoption agreement that the adopter must sign at the time of the adoption. Our adoption fee is $300.

Go meet their pets

Meet and greets are scheduled once a potential adopter's adoption application has been approved. We do not have a physical location, all dogs are in foster homes. Another great way to meet our dogs is at events. All events are posted on our Facebook page so check back frequently!

More about this rescue

Black Dogs & Company Rescue (BD&CR) rescues dogs from high kill shelters in Maryland and surrounding states. We are an all breed rescue but specialize in black dogs. Please read about black dog syndrome. These dogs are the last to be adopted (if at all) so they have a hard time leaving the shelter. You may have also noticed the old english sheepdog in our logo. We are the regional contact for OES rescue. They are not the dog for everyone but once you own one (and walk the sheepie way) you will love the breed!
