My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This dog is part of our shelter outreach program where we take dogs from overcrowded shelters in hopes of finding them a forever home here! We generally do not have much background info on them and cannot guarantee they are housebroken.  They are all up to date on vaccines, spayed/neutered and microchipped.

Update 8-1-23

Guess what? The sibling of Ruby and Diamond who was adopted had a DNA test done and it came back 96% Carolina dog. These dogs are prevalent in the Southeast and are known to be loyal to their humans and make great family pets.
These adorable sisters have been patiently waiting for their forever home for 3 whole months! Their brother was adopted but they are still here!! They're young, active, and ready to bring endless love and joy to your life.  Ruby and Diamond will thrive with regular exercise and training. They're eager to learn new tricks and make memories with their perfect family.
Give these precious pups the loving home they deserve. Don't let them wait any longer! Adopt Ruby or Diamond today and experience the pure happiness they'll bring into your life.

Flint, Ruby, and Diamond are three adorable puppy siblings in a shelter waiting for their forever home. They are 5 months old and are Shepherd husky mixes with a gemstone theme to their names. They were left in a box in front of a piggly wiggly in TN when they were only a few weeks old, and now they need experienced and caring homes to take care of them.

These puppies are going to be big - they are expected to grow to 50lbs when fully grown. As Shepherd husky mixes, they will need plenty of exercise and playtime to keep them happy and healthy. Potential adopters should be aware of this and ensure they have enough space and time to dedicate to these pups.

Flint, Ruby, and Diamond are also in need of experienced dog owners. They are young and have a lot to learn, so their new owners should be willing to invest time and patience into training them. It is essential that they attend obedience classes to ensure they grow into well-behaved adult dogs.

Due to their size and energy, these puppies are best suited for homes with children who are 15 and up. They may accidentally knock over younger children or become too boisterous for them to handle.

If you are interested in adopting Flint, Ruby, and Diamond, please consider all of these factors carefully. These puppies are looking for loving and responsible homes where they will be cared for and given the attention they deserve.

*Per JSAC policy, puppies and kittens under 6 months will not be adopted to families with children under the age of 6 years.

Adoption Process

Our friendly, knowledgable team of staff and volunteers would be glad to give you a tour of the shelter and discuss whether one of our furry friends is the right match for your home.

The JSAC has careful policies on the placement of young animals, dominant breed dogs (Rottweilers, Shepherds, Akitas, etc). Due to our lifelong return policy we prefer to adopt our pets locally, so we don't adopt out of state. We prefer homes in the region so that we can be a resource for the animals and their adopters. These policies and procedures are in place to protect everyone involved and are very common when rehoming animals, whether through a shelter or a rescue group.

We do not have "same day" adoptions. Rather, an application for an animal is reviewed to ensure that 1) the home has taken good care of their other animals * 2) The animal is permitted in the home and 3) that it is the right home for the right animal (choosing dog that likes cats if cats already in household, etc..). Typically this process takes 24-48 hours. If a dog application is approved and there are other dogs in the home, we have the two (or more) dogs meet; many times if necessary.
