My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Cooper is a goofy, young bloodhound who will be 2 years old in June and weighs about 60-65 pounds. Cooper loves food and bones and toys and ropes! He loves to be outside and would be happiest in a home with a fenced yard and someone to take him on hikes and lots of outdoor adventures. He needs an experienced owner willing to work with him as he is smart and listens well when he knows what to expect but does a have a few quirks. He does not care to share his food so a home with small children is not recommended. He cannot be crated. He is house trained and does have good house manners if given toys to play with and things to chew on if he's not being supervised. Cooper has lived with other dogs and can get along with females but has not done as well with other males. He'd be perfectly happy being your only hound child!

Cooper is a beautiful boy who has so much potiential and life to live! Bloodhound owners understand they need special homes with owners who are ready to embrace all the quirks that come along with this regal breed! Let's help Cooper find the home he is looking for!

Augusta Dog Adoptions is a 501c3, foster- based rescue. We take applications online and schedule adoptions in Waynesboro, VA. A $175.00 adoption fee ($300 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries.
