My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Introducing Java, the adorable 5-year-old Pit Bull mix with a heart as big as her playful spirit!

Weighing in at a compact 50 pounds, Java is the epitome of fun-sized energy, always ready for adventures and cuddles alike. With her wagging tail and enthusiastic demeanor, Java is a social butterfly who loves making new friends wherever she goes. Whether it's greeting strangers on her morning walks or engaging in playtime with her beloved toys, this pint-sized powerhouse is always up for a good time. Not just a bundle of energy, Java is also a seasoned traveler, enjoying car rides and making the perfect companion for road trips. But when it's time to unwind, she transforms into a cuddle bug extraordinaire, craving the affection of her favorite humans.

While Java may keep you on your toes with her boundless enthusiasm, she promises to fill your life with endless joy and laughter. She's open to the idea of sharing her home with another furry friend, but prefers a slow introduction to ensure compatibility. And while she adores kids, her exuberance means she's best suited for households with children ages 13 and older.

If you're ready for a lifetime of love, laughter, and endless adventures, Java is the perfect pup to join your family and make every day brighter. Get ready to embark on a journey of fun and affection with this lovable little lady by your side! If Java looks like the girl for you, give us a call at 330-487-0333 ext. 226 to learn more about her and schedule a time to come in and meet!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

All of our adoptable animals are up-to-date on all age appropriate vaccinations, spayed or neutered, de-wormed, de-flea and microchipped before adoptions are finalized. All dogs over six months of age receive a temperament assessment by our Certified Professional Dog Trainer to ensure appropriate placement. Also, many animals in our care receive basic obedience training to improve manners and increase adoptability.

We are currently doing adoptions by appointment only. Please contact us by phone at (234) 212-9843 or email at adoptions@summithumane.org, and an adoption counselor will return your message. They will review our adoption process, answer any questions, and tell you more about the animals currently available for adoption at our shelter and in our foster program. If we have a match for you and your family, an appointment will be scheduled to meet the animal.

Additional questions can be directed to our adoption team at (234) 212-9843.

More about this shelter

Since 1968, the Humane Society of Summit County (HSSC) has been the trusted caretaker and advocate for Summit County’s victims of animal abuse, neglect, and abandonment and stray animals suffering from illness and injury. We employ two full-time Humane Officers who respond to emergency calls, investigate animal cruelty, and, as warranted, prosecute offenders. We protect and care for our community’s abused, discarded, and forgotten animals. We strive every day to rehabilitate our rescued animals, find them great homes, and provide them with bright futures.
