My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Tonic!

Hey everyone, my name is Tonic, and I hope you are ready to board the Hot Mess Express! Choo chooooo! I wasn't really expected to live more than a week, and here I am months later, living the Hot Mess dream. I'm about 10 years old, and all 50 pounds of me is so grateful for this chance to find a forever home. Let's get the good things out of the way first, and then I'll tell you why I'm the conductor of this train! I get along well with other dogs, I don't mind cats, and I could do well with older, respectful kids. I'm house trained, but even though I really try to make it outside when I have to go, sometimes I don't quite get there. I'm going to need a fenced yard with a doggy door at my forever home so I can go out as needed. Otherwise, I'll keep you up all night long.

I have some issues that I'd like you to know about before you make your decision about adopting me. Listen real closely because one of us has to listen, and I won't hear a word you say.I have IBD, which means I have to eat prescription food or a commercial food with rabbit. I can't have chicken, beef, or lamb, though. I also have a huge gallstone. I have patches of missing fur, and sometimes I get sores on my toes. I take a medicine called galliprant, which is for my arthritis. And of course, you probably gathered that I'm deaf.

All of these things don't slow me down! I'm a husky, and in true husky fashion, I have a bit of sass, and won't hesitate to talk, or even yell at you. I love to lay outside in the cold and snow, but my most favorite thing is destroying cardboard boxes. I know someone will want to love me and let me conduct the train, and I can't wait for the day that they find me so I can have the best time of my life!

Disclaimer: It is VERY difficult even for a veterinarian to tell the exact age of a dog over two years old. From one vet to another, we can get different age estimates on the same dog and they can vary by several years. We are only making an educated guess based on a few factors like teeth, fur color, and overall body condition, but for dogs who have not been given adequate vet care and food, it can be even more difficult. Every dog is an individual, and we do our very best to age appropriately but make no guarantees as to the age of any dog in our program.
