Day in and day out I was chained up. Every day I woke up hoping things would be different. I spent my whole life being outside with hardly any interaction with the people that should have loved me most. Sometimes they would even forget to feed me and the neighbors had to feed me. Despite all of this, I was always so excited when they did come out and played with me. I couldn't be mad at them. They were my family. And when they did show me, love, I would feel like I was on top of the world!

When they didn't pay attention to me, it hurt. I wanted so badly for them to love me and didn't understand why sometimes they would just totally forget about me. What was I doing wrong? How could I make them love me? How could I get them to realize that they are my whole world? In the end, it didn't matter though. My owners ended up getting evicted and leaving. I guess I wasn't going to be part of their family anymore because they ended up leaving me behind...still on that chain. I was heartbroken, they just left me chained up. Didn't even give me a chance to fend for myself. No food. No water. They just left...how could they do that to me?

I was lucky though in that the neighbor who had been feeding me offered to take me in. She then contacted PPFT about me and they said yes. So, just like that my life did a 180, and this time for the better!!

The first thing that was different was my foster family brought me in the house with them. I had never been in the house before. I remember spending many days looking from the outside in wondering what it would be like to be inside..and now..now I was finally inside! I discovered that I really like the couch and that it is quite comfortable. This may be my first time being inside, but I have embraced indoor living. I never want to have to be an outside dog again and am doing all that I can to get to stay inside. I am potty trained, as well as kennel trained. I have not been a big chewer in my foster home. I will alert you when someone is close to the house, but other than that am not a big barker. I will howl if I hear sirens going off though.

Speaking of howling, I have a howling good time playing with balls! You like what I did there, don't ya? ;) I can play fetch with you all day long, I love love love it! I absolutely love squeaky toys and balls. I have been on a few walks. I do like them but I do pull sometimes still. I just get so excited that sometimes I forgot my manners. I think I would absolutely love going on hikes with my new family. I am always up for a road trip and ride well in the car. I do believe that I would enjoy getting to go places with my new family. I can be wary of some people that I don't know and may bark...loud men especially scare me. However, I do really well around my foster dad. I may act the same way around new dogs. I need to take things slowly, but once I realize that the other dogs won't hurt me I settle down. And a few days later will even start lightly playing with them. For the most part, I am indifferent to the other dogs once I settle in but I do enjoy a light wrestling session with them every now and then. I am being fostered around cats but will try to give chase so a cat-free home may be best. I love people but worry that a home with young kids would be too much for me since I do scare easily. I love older kiddos though, like 8 and above I LOVE and think I would be such a great friend to them.

Please I am begging you though, only apply to adopt me if you can keep me forever. If you can't keep me through ALL of life's changes, don't be the one that makes me have to be passed around a few months/years down the line. That just isn't fair to me.

I would NEVER give up on you, so please don't give up on me. I want to be your forever...not your until dog.

~Miriam is a great little lady and she hasn't had the best life. When we moved in she lived next door outside on a chain. We always felt sorry for her and fed her and made sure she had water. When her family moved they left her behind, still chained up. The landlord let us take her rather than call the pound and she has been doing great with us. She loves being an indoor girl with friends and toys and her special crate with its soft bed. Unfortunately, she loves to chase cats (as most shepherds do) and my older cat can't handle it. She did have kids in her previous home and loved them and has done amazing with all the kids and people who come through our home. She is an amazing little watchdog who lets me know whenever we have a different mailman than our usual one. She loves nothing more than curling up on the sofa and watching movies with her foster sisters and family. She is a very smart girl and would probably love to learn agility or all the tricks you can think of.

She would love a calmer home but an active family. She does fine with calm dogs and is fine with Evelyn as she is super submissive and chill. She would be best with older kids who are dog savvy, as she was mistreated by her previous owners and gets scared and surprised easily by small children.~
