My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

FOSTERED IN: Chicago, IL 60619
ESTIMATED DOB: 06/2014
WEIGHT: 7lbs
KIDS: No
DOGS: Yes
CATS: Yes

HISTORY:
Scooter came to us from an open intake facility. He recently was returned to us due to a change in his adopter’s health.

ABOUT:
Scooter is a happy, cute, excitable, independent little guy. He loves to go for walks and car rides. He also loves to spend time out in the yard sniffing everything and has to be convinced to come inside. He is not needy for attention, but he does enjoy sitting near you on the sofa. The more he gets to know you the closer he scoots. His favorite time of the day is meal or treat times. Scooter has a collapsing trachea that becomes obvious when he gets excited.

Scooter barks at things that a lot of dogs bark at: the doorbell, the mailman, etc. His foster does not know if he barks when left alone. Scooter is left gated in one room when no one is home and does well in this situation. He is crated at night and after getting used to the routine he has started to put himself to bed some nights. He is generally housetrained but does mark when introduced to new environments.

Scooter is fine when visitors come, but he takes a little bit of time to warm up to new people and doesn’t like to be handled or bothered by new people. Sometimes he needs help up onto the couch, but he doesn’t like to admit it so you have to convince him to let you help.

Scooter doesn’t love to be moved at times, and is unsure of fast movements. He will need to be adopted into an adult only home. Scooter ignores the cats in his foster home, and does well with the resident small dogs. He likes to do things with the “pack,” like going outside to go potty. He might do best with another dog to follow around.

Scooter’s adopter said that they would experience growling and snapping with some family members. Scooter’s foster home sees these behaviors when he is asked to do something he doesn’t want to do like not wanting to come inside, or out from underneath furniture, but his foster has a good understanding and good relationship with him. Scooter’s adopter will need to be patient and allow the relationship and trust to develop.

Do you have the child-free, calm home that Scooter will thrive in? The first step is to fill out our adoption application. More information and our adoption application can be found at www.luluslockerrescue.org.
