My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I’m Ralphie, and I’m ready for a new adventure, hopefully with you! I’m a five-year-old, six-pound male chihuahua, neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. I’m currently with my foster family as I get treatment for some hind leg trouble. Once that’s all cleared up, I’ll be available for adoption!

I was picked up as a stray in Illinois and Chihuahua Rescue and Transport sprung me from animal control–my lucky day! My unstable past has given me some anxiety though: I get nervous around strangers and I hate being separated from my people, although I’m never destructive. I also have a little trouble with exposing my private parts and will need help to keep them healthy.

Although I have trouble with strangers, once I get to know them, I love my humans completely! I especially enjoy snuggling with them and having them throw my toy ducky so I can show off my fetching skills. I get along with other small dogs too, as long as they’re calm. My foster mom is proud of my housetraining work–she says I’m almost there!

I’ll need an experienced adopter who can help me with my stranger anxiety and who can stay home with me most of the time. I know I come with some challenges, but I promise I will more than make up for the extra work with my sweet snuggles and undying devotion! Will you give me a chance to prove it?

Ralphie’s adoption fee is $300. If you are interested in adopting Ralphie, please DO NOT SEND A MESSAGE TO OUR RESCUE GROUP. We are too busy placing dogs in great homes to answer messages and inquiries through the listing site.

More about this rescue

CRT does not warehouse dogs in a shelter. As in most rescue groups, our dogs are cared for in healthy, safe, loving foster home environments. CRT foster parents work very hard to be sure that their foster dog feels safe and loved while working on housetraining, crate training, socialization, etc. All our dogs are spayed/neutered, fully vaccinated, heartworm tested, fecal tested, microchipped, on heartworm preventative and have all other veterinary needs taken care of (such as heartworm treatment, dentals, luxating patellas, etc.) CRT is known, and has always been known, for taking the injured, infirm and elderly Chihuahuas and Chihuahua mixes. Please consider the adoption of one of these dogs as well. Seniors and special needs dogs make great pets too!

CRT is a 501(c)3 nonprofit, public charity. We have no paid employees. We are dedicated to rescue, adoption and the medical care of stray and homeless Chihuahuas in need, and to help control the growing overpopulation through spaying and neutering all dogs in our care.
