My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Please read the bio in full for answers to your questions. In the event you have a question that is not covered in the bio, please email info@seniordoghaven.org. If interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application which can be found at https://seniordoghaven.org/adoption-process/.

Please note that because all of our dogs live in foster homes, we are unable to set up meetings with a dog unless we have a completed adoption application on file. Adoptions must be about an hour of Wilmington, DE in order for our volunteers to be able to conduct an in person home visit.

Meet Roscoe!
One look into those dreamy eyes will have you asking for more! We were so happy to be able to step up and help him when he needed us most! Roscoe came to us from a partner where he lingered month after month without any interest. We just couldn’t say no to that face! Approximately 11yrs old, 65ish lbs, and a Boxer/mix breed - we were determined to intervene and give him a second chance.

While under our care, he received a much needed dental to help with his very painful mouth, and the removal of a low grade cancerous mass. Luckily his post op biopsy also revealed he had clean margins from this removal - which means extra monitoring for any new lumps or bumps that may pop up in his future. His bloodwork showed some age related values that also, at this time, require no treatment -just monitoring. We started him on arthritis meds which have really improved his mobility. Their cost is approximately $50/month.

Although Roscoe does have some mild separation anxiety, he is a VERY calm and laid back guy. For this reason we believe his ideal home would be with a family or individual who is home more than not , and will continue to work with his down time. a home that has a quiet environment , and has teenage or older family members. He is not an apartment or condo dog, as he may bark when left alone, but is very content and quiet when he shares space with other calm canine AND feline friends ! Roscoe is housebroken when he is maintained on a routine schedule. He favorite things to do - he plays hard for about 15 seconds twice a week - loves car rides, short strolls around the block, and napping on the couch Dislikes - being told he can’t snack out of the litter box, and not being able to hang out with his humans ! If you’re in need of a co-pilot to help you run errands , or have an extra space for a snuggler on the couch- Roscoe is your guy!
