My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Skittles (although she looks more like a Cleopatra with those gorgeous eyes) is a very special cat.  She is an adorable female with a beautiful tortoiseshell coat.  She is laid back and has a gentle spirit which makes her a bit shy, but just until she knows you. Once she warms up to you, she is friendly, loving, affectionate and playful. She loves her toys. She is an easy cat to love and will love you in return.  TO LEARN MORE ABOUT HER, PLEASE CONTACT HER FRIEND, KATHY, AT kdykster@aol.com.
We encourage you to file an on line application for this or any of our pets by clicking HERE or by going to www.animal-aid.com for a Pet Adoption Application .  Please include the name of the cat(s) or kitten(s). Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Since our animals were homeless, we wish to ensure that their next home is permanent. To do this, we carefully screen applicants to establish that the needs of both the animal and the adoptive home will be met. A prospective adoptive owner must:

Complete an application for a dog or cat. Our board will review the application to determine if you and the chosen pet are a good match.

Pay an adoption donation. Being a non-profit rescue, we do not "sell" pets. All tax-deductible donations are placed in a fund to care for our animals.

Our adoption donation is:

Puppies/Dogs - $100-$300 includes heartworm, ehrlichia, lyme test, spay or neuter, rabies vaccine, 5 way series of puppy vaccines, fecal exam, deworming, Frontline (de-flea/tick), ear mite treatment, microchip (lifetime implant identification system), vet checkup, and initial grooming.

Kittens - $75.00 includes: Spay or neuter (when old enough), leukemia test, fecal exam, rabies vaccine (when old enough), entire series of kitten vaccines, flea control, both deworming treatments and one vet visit.

Cats - $60.00 includes: Spay or neuter, aids/leukemia test, fecal exam, rabies vaccine, 5-way combo vaccine, flea control and one vet visit.

More about this shelter

We are an all-volunteer, non-profit, no-kill animal rescue shelter and adoption center. Our shelter takes in emergency, abuse and neglect cases as well as dogs and cats from various (high-kill) animal control agencies in Palm Beach, Dade and Broward Counties in South Florida. We offer cats and dogs for adoption at our adoption center in Oakland Park, FL. We have a spay/neuter clinic in-house and a mobile unit stationed in Boca Raton, FL as well as a sanctuary in Naples, FL. We are a tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) organization which relies solely on donations.

One of our goals is to address the overpopulation problem of stray and feral cats by offering the public low cost spay/neuter program.
