FOSTER/ADOPTER NEEDED ASAP! - Lucy is approximately 11-12 month old female mixed breed who needs a home with a buddy dog (if not adopted with her littermate Linus).
Lucy, and her littermate Linus, came to us from a kill shelter that thought they might be a Canaan or Carolina Dog mixed with Shiba or Husky. We're not sure there's much Shiba or Husky in her, but whatever the mix she is an absolutely gorgeous and wonderful pup who deserves a wonderful home!
The past several months in her foster home has been an incredible chance for Lucy to recover from a rough start in life; she has started to show her fun and affectionate personality to her foster family and she is now a healthy weight at about 40 lbs. Initially, Lucy was a bit fearful and lacking in self confidence when she arrived at her foster home. However, she learned to trust her foster family after only a few days. While she is still skittish with strangers and needs a slow introduction to new people and environments, she has learned to trust regular visitors. We know that with time and patience, she will thrive!
Lucy is sweet joyful girl; full of puppy energy and loves to play. She is super smart, high energy, and bosses Linus around (just like the Peanuts gang!). Lucy is house trained, crate trained, and affectionate to her foster family. She will guard her food and eat Linus's share, so we are working on that behavior. She knows how to 'sit', and is learning to walk on leash. Lucy is an athlete, a fast runner and agile, so a home with a yard with a 6 foot fence will be needed. She was spayed upon coming into rescue and recovered well. She is ready to learn more skills and commands and find her forever home!
Lucy & Linus are currently together in a temp foster home, but we are looking for a long term foster or adopter for her. It would be preferable to keep Lucy and Linus together, but if they are separated, Lucy would likely do best with another dog to play with in the house, show her the ropes, and make her feel more secure. Linus would likely do fine with another dog or as an only dog.

Lucy's adopt free is $300. It includes: spay/neuter, vaccinations, heartworm test/prevention, microchip, and initial training with a COSIR approved trainer. If adopted with her brother, the adoption fee will be discounted to $250.
