My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

END OF JULY ADOPTION SPECIAL: every dog who goes home before August 1, will go home with a basket of new toys, treats and a new orthopedic bolstered dog bed.

Hi there, my name is Dana! I am about 2 years old and I weigh 45 lbs. I am a beautiful girl, inside and out. I have a fairly laid back personality. I am not a hyper girl. I enjoy taking leisurely walks, sniffy walks and fast walker walks, whatever you're in the mood for, I am happy to go with it. I LOVE walkies. I am a little shy with strangers at first, but once you get to know me, I am the biggest sweetheart, expert cuddle buddy, besties for life. I am looking for a support human to help me find my brave. There are just some things in life that are new to me and I have to learn that it's not so scary. Like third-story outside stairs - super scary. I do learn and I love to learn, but I need a compassionate, patient person to help me. I like to stay close to my humans, especially when they give me yummy treats. My foster human says that I do really well on my leash and I'm a joy to go for a walk with. I also enjoy going for car rides - I like watching all the trees and cars go by. I am friendly and affectionate, playful and funny. I am a quick learner and know lots of cool stuff. I am housetrained, crate trained and I know to sit. I work hard for treats and praise. I like to play with my toys and to lounge in the sunshine. I also like to play with my doggy friends after slow and proper introductions, which the rescue will show you how to do. I am a really good girl and am looking for my forever humans. Could that be you? I hope so. Please apply today! Adoption fee: $80. Fee includes testing, deworming, vaccinations, spay/neuter, 30 days of free pet insurance, one session with a certified behavior trainer and microchip.

NOTE ABOUT BREED LABELING: Visual breed identification of dogs is unreliable and usually inaccurate. So, for most of our adoptable dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.

Why is labeling a dog such a big deal? A label will stick with a dog for the rest of its life. A label can mean discrimination, losing its home or even death. Labels are a problem for the dogs when we, as the local experts on animals, allow adopters, politicians and community members to think that the label we assign can predict who that dog is or will be.

Adoption Process:
Complete the application at www.pawsforliferescue.org. We then arrange a location, date and time for you to meet some pets. If the meeting goes well and everyone is happy, you begin the mandatory, minimum two-week adjustment period with the pet as part of your family. You will pay the non-refundable adoption fee at the start of the two-week adjustment period. This pending period allows your new dog or cat time to adjust to their new home, new people, new routine, etc., and for you to decide if it's a match and the right pet for you. At the end of two weeks (some people extend the adjustment time as needed and that's fine too), if everyone is happy, then we finalize the adoption. Feel free to email if you have any questions.
