The last time we saw Coach, he weighed a whopping seven pounds! Coach used to be known as Alfie, and he came to Home Fur Good as a little puppy in the summer of 2020. As a squishie, chubby puppy, we all thought he was a Labrador Retriever mix. Now that he is turning three years old in June, he seems a little light on the Lab portion of his DNA. He is a very tall boy and now weighs 71 pounds. When he was a puppy, Home Fur Good had a nursing mom named Nova, who adopted Coach right into her litter without a second thought. He was adopted by a human mom and recently she decided she could not provide the best home for him. She felt Coach had developed some anxiety and had become protective. Coach is in shock to find himself in a busy shelter environment. He has been a little shy, but he is very receptive to kind, soft words, and soaks up affection if offered. HFG will watch him as he settles in and work to find him a home that is a perfect fit. The adoption fee is $225 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Our adoption hours are Thursday-Saturday from 11:00 am-4:00 pm by appointment.

Home Fur Good has trained adoption counselors to review and question any potential problems/issues with application. We do require an adoption fee which ranges for dogs $150-$300 and for cats $50-$100. All cats and dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and vet checked.
If another dog or dogs are present in the household we require a meet and greet prior to adoption. All members of the household must be on board with adoption. We do not adopt our rescues out without meeting person that will be responsible - no "gift" adoptions. We contract that if cat/dog must be relinquished they are returned to us. If there is a change of ownership we must be kept informed who responsible party is. Fees are non refundable.

More about this rescue
Home Fur Good is a non profit no kill animal shelter located in the NE Valley. We take a majority of our cats and dogs from County, many who have treatable medical conditions and would otherwise be put down. We assess physical and behavior and work with the cats/dogs to find the best suitable match. It is our goal that each cat or dog that comes to our shelter ultimately be placed in their "furever" homes.
We also operate a low cost vaccine and microchip clinic each Sunday. We want to help community be able to care for and keep their animals safe. We do not charge vet fee only fee for vaccine and microchip. Additionally we have a low cost dental clinic each Wednesday. Check our website for more details.
