My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

FIVE months ago Bashful along with 6 other Hounds were running at large. (Our 7 Dwarfs!). When he came in was so skinny, absolutely filthy and infested with fleas and ticks.
Bashful was extremely shy when he arrived and he still struggles with his confidence but he is an absolutely sweet Hound! He comes out of his shell with other dogs around. He loves to run and he like our other Hounds finds absolute joy playing with Stuffed toys!
FIVE months in a shelter is hard on any animal but when you struggle with being a shy guy it can make you a bit anxious. Bashful needs an active family preferably one with a 4 legged pal that will show him the ropes of living in a home. Bashful has been great with the cats he has met in our cat room and as we said he does well with other dogs!
Bashful is around 6 years young, neutered, microchipped, Heartworm tested and is current on all vaccines including rabies. He has been given a dewormer and started on flea/tick prevention.

More about this shelter

The Orange County Animal Shelter is responsible for providing humane care to unwanted, lost or abandoned animals
The Orange County Animal Shelter provides safe haven and vet care for hundreds of animals of all ages and descriptions each year.
Happily, we have had great success promoting our animals on Petfinder, Petsmart adoption events and now with the help of Adopt-A-Pet. Dozens of animals have been adopted by people who have come from many other states. Would you like to join them? If so, please let us know! The greater our reach the more homes we will find for the animals in our care.
Although we are about 1.5 hours away from the Washington, D.C. metro area, it is an easy drive. You can even make a day of it and stop off at country stores, Civil War battlefield sites and a huge mall complex in Spotsylvania/Fredericksburg. And after all, what is a few hours in drive time when you will be meeting your new best friend? If you need help getting here, call us for directions
