My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

***SEEKING MEDICAL FOSTER TO LOVE AND CUDDLE JOHNNY WHILE HE UNDERGOES HEARTWORM TREATMENT!!!!***

Meet our handsome boy, Johnny! This almost 25lb boy was running the streets with his buddy Walker. They were brought to the shelter as strays and NO ONE ever came looking for them!

Johnny is a sweet 3ish year old Beagle that lives for anything that involves FOOD!!!!! Johnny does well with other dogs but was more interested in the cats food than the cats. Since he was a stray he will need help and patience in a new home learning the household potty routine.

Johnny has been neutered and when we did his heartworm test, he was POSITIVE for heartworm disease. He has begun the treatment and would benefit from a foster home while he continues the process.

Johnny has been neutered, microchipped and updated all vaccines including rabies. He has been given a dewormer and started on flea/tick prevention.

More about this shelter

The Orange County Animal Shelter is responsible for providing humane care to unwanted, lost or abandoned animals
The Orange County Animal Shelter provides safe haven and vet care for hundreds of animals of all ages and descriptions each year.
Happily, we have had great success promoting our animals on Petfinder, Petsmart adoption events and now with the help of Adopt-A-Pet. Dozens of animals have been adopted by people who have come from many other states. Would you like to join them? If so, please let us know! The greater our reach the more homes we will find for the animals in our care.
Although we are about 1.5 hours away from the Washington, D.C. metro area, it is an easy drive. You can even make a day of it and stop off at country stores, Civil War battlefield sites and a huge mall complex in Spotsylvania/Fredericksburg. And after all, what is a few hours in drive time when you will be meeting your new best friend? If you need help getting here, call us for directions
