This sweet guy needs to be your only dog; no young kids and you must have a fenced yard. No condos or apartments.

Meet Rufus, a black Cocker Spaniel boy about 1 or so years old. He is an abandoned stray that came to rescue after roaming the streets for quite a while. He was not micro-chipped, had numerous ticks, was filthy dirty and badly matted.

Rufus is people friendly, loves attention, did well at the vet and is a wonderful guy. He is learning to interact with the rescue dogs and has done well with them so far, but he is not good with unknown dogs or big dogs. He had his cherry eye fixed, a dental and is now neutered. He came here horribly matted, scared and reactive to dogs and fast-moving hands. Here, he has been super friendly, playful, sits well, wags his tail and has been a good boy.

He needs to be a house dog and your only dog, or he can be with another dog social pal that is not a really big dog. No small kids but 10 and older okay. No apartments or condos. He must be kept in a secure fenced backyard where he will always need to be monitored. A patient owner is needed to help him thrive as he grows up and some dog training is highly suggested. Invisible fencing is not a good option because he scares easily. He is a youngster, so he will need help with house training in a new home. He has done well with us and just needs to gain confidence to be a great dog. Please give him the chance he deserves to have a loving home.

His adoption fee is $500.00.
