My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Jocelyn is so "funny looking," in her own way she is…cute! You can’t help but smile and chuckle and feel for her when you look at her! She will grab your heart! She is a five-year old female puppy mill survivor. Who has come a very long way since first coming to her foster home through rescue. She was terrified! Trembling with fear! She now spends her time with eight other dogs in a loving foster home. She has adjusted to being around her “dog friends” and has “decompressed” cautiously and nicely. She will need a very patient adopter, someone who will work with her, show her love, comfort her and help her as she adjusts to feeling safe and loved! She occasionally still shows signs of being afraid and scared, quite understandable at this early stage in her “freedom” from her puppy-mill life. These incidents are fewer as each day passes, which is quite encouraging. It reflects her resiliency! She is not aggressive, does not show signs of meanness and has not tried to bite. She seems to show a kind heart and a desire to belong.

Jocelyn is partially trained to do her business outside but will require more one-on-one “customized” training to be completely trained and to please her new owner in her new surroundings. She has access to a doggie door and has quickly learned to follow the lead of her doggie roommates. She seems to enjoy being with them and I believe she will do best with a furry friend in her forever home. A dog she can be near, “relate to,” eventually be comfortable enough to play with, and in general have a good friend to share her life with.

Because Jocelyn has most likely spent her entire life confined to a cage, as her foster mom, I will not put her in a crate. If it is necessary to contain her, she is put into a room with a gate. This works fine. She has adjusted remarkably well in the short time she has been with me. I am encouraged with how far she has come and how she seems to be flexible and is “coming around” to how her life is changing. I believe she will adapt well to new surroundings, to a forever home. I have not tried to leash walk her at all but feel she will adapt quickly.

Let’s show Jocelyn that the door to her previous life has closed and that there is a clean, safe, happy life ahead of her with you and a furry pal she will enjoy life with! Please contact me. As her foster mom, I welcome your inquiry!

Please contact her foster mom at dogcrazy623@gmail.com or 224-688-9782. She is being fostered in Antioch IL. Her adoption fee is $450 and she is fully vetted including a dental.
