My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

To help us make a great fit for you, and any of our dogs as well, please include information about yourself(home, family, yard/fence, work hours, other pets...) and/or use our application at sparrowdogs.com. We absolutely appreciate you sharing any helpful information about your family, it helps us to make a great match for you and one of our dogs. Sorry...those automated forms just don't cut it, we would rather hear from you personally.

Weighing in at all of 7.9 pounds and just TWO years old is the mighty Rory!!! Ok, he is not that mighty and is not even as feisty as many Chihuahua's are, they have a reputation to uphold, ya know. They have the Mighty Dog syndrome, all that bravado packed into a little guinea pig sized body. Well, good new is, Rory does not have too much of that extra special Chihuahua Charm, he is actually fairly mellow as far as that goes.

Rory was a stray that ended up in an Animal Control, he was never claimed by any potential owner, so who knows how this little boy ended up on his own. Lucky for him he was found before he got hurt. The staff at the shelter fell for him quickly, he is a charming little guy. He loves adults, he can be sweet and snuggly, loves his belly rubs almost as much as his toys. We found out he loves a nice nap in the sun(on his own blanket with his name no less!!), and is quite the social little guy as well. Rory is terrific with the other dogs, has been having a great time running and playing with the other dogs, of all shapes and sizes.

He is also well behaved, listens well and appears to be housebroken. He is not quite Mr. Perfect tho, lol, I have yet to meet that guy! Rory does NOT like medical staff, which is referred to as "White Coat Syndrome." He can be quite a surly guy in a veterinary environment. Often for dogs like that, which is quite common, you may have to muzzle him prior to his appointment. Or, the vet may prescribe a medication to calm him that his family can give him before his appointment.

Also, he does not like kids. Easy solution there, we will not be adopting Rory to a family with children. If you have kids visiting on occasion, he could go in his crate or another room. Rory does not mind his crate for short spurts, so that should not be an issue.

Rory is a wonderful little snuggle buddy. He will do well with a family that enjoy being outdoors, another fairly active dog would be great. He is loving, but he is also young, so he is not the little guy that will happily sit on your lap all day or be left alone for more than a couple hours a day. He will be most content with a family that will be equally as happy being outdoors and enjoying this wonderful weather!! Rory will go home with plenty of supplies to help him settle in, of course his special blanket, too! His adoption fee is $350, please email Kristine at joysparrows@gmail.com.
