Here's what the humans have to say about me:
IN Port Charlotte, FL
Rhys or Reese Pieces is what we affectionately call this boy, and you will love him to pieces after you meet him. Rhys (pronounced Reese) is a 6 month old fluffy tri-color Australian Shepherd.
Rhys was surrendered to ASF from a breeder selling to brokers who prefer the merle coloring. He was flown to Florida via Pilots and Paws and is currently fostered in a home with other dogs and cats.
When meeting new dogs Rhys is non reactive, no growls, no barks, no hesitations. When meeting cats- he responds the same way. When meeting new people- Rhys takes it slow and steady, he does shy away a little bit the first few minutes but warms up quickly. Rhys is very low key for a young shepherd, calm, quiet (unless he is playing with other dogs), and gentle. He is crate trained, and is quiet while in the crate, almost housetrained (he still forgets at times), he will also let you know when he needs to go outside by little whines or cries. He is responsive- comes when called, responds to "no" and is working on sit and stay. He is learning that the leash is not a chew toy and working on walking next to you instead of under your feet. He is currently sleeping on the floor next to the bed for most of the night, he does occasionally like to snuggle with his person.
Rhys is going to make someone an AMAZING dog. He would do best in a home with at least 1 doggie pal, cats would be fine and older children would be perfect! His current best friend is a 17lbs mini female aussie. Rhys loves being outside, playing chase with other dogs, and he LOVES his toys! He needs lots of toys to keep him entertained and to distract him from his puppy chewing. Rhys loves to please his people and would respond well to basic puppy training. He would do great on walks, car trips or hiking- he is willing to go anywhere as long as he is with his people. A home with a fenced yard is preferred.
Rhys is up to date on vaccines, neutered, microchipped and on heartwrom/flea/tick prevention. If Rhys sounds perfect for you, please fill out our application:
