My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Please contact Joyce for more information about this pet.

Sir Gumbolt is a gentle giant. Mild mannered yet social and playful, he radiates confidence. He is deeply committed to his people and he reads cues well. He appreciates the same respect in return. While he enjoys affection and pets, when he has had enough, like a good partner, he lets you know with a gentle toothless nip.

His foster mom reports that he wakes early “because he is excited about his breakfast.” After eating he enjoys a round of play and another round at night. He loves to sprint and slide around and chase his toys thrown across the room, and bunny kick them once captured. Playing "hide and attack the wand toy from behind the curtains" is another adventure he relishes. He is not a jumper but a chaser, and he lets you know it is time to play by approaching and then sprinting away to tease the chase out of you. When he's not playing or meowing for food, he is curled up on his favorite blanket snoozing away in the sun. At night, he's discovered just how cozy a bed can be and now enjoys a deep snooze at the foot of the bed.

Gumbolt is a very smart fellow and has been learning clicker training. In return for treats, he has mastered "paw shakes" and "high-fives". As he is food motivated, he just might be keen on learning word buttons.

Sir Gummy would do best in a quiet household as he loves his alone time throughout the day. Due to his social nature, he would be happy if you work from home - he will seek you out!

Gumbolt is vaccinated, microchipped, neutered, and dewormed. He tested positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (“FIV”) which causes a weakening of a cat’s immune system. Cats with FIV can live a healthy normal life, both in quality and longevity.

This cat is in a foster home.  Please fill out our online adoption application and we'll set you up to meet him as soon as possible.   Our adoption application is on our website here:  www.thedancingcat.org/adopt

More about this rescue

We are a nonprofit 501(c)(3) animal rescue organization dedicated to saving local at-risk shelter pets from the San Jose Animal Care Center. Our goal is to give adoptable animals a chance to shine in a casual and relaxed environment, and expand opportunity for adoptions, thereby reducing the euthanasia rate in Silicon Valley. The Dancing Cat also seeks to create a community of cat lovers by providing a place for fun social and educational events.
