My story

This is Astrid. She was found by animal control with her litter. The babies were extremely anemic and covered in fleas and ticks and didn’t make it. We went to the facility to pick up another animal but saw her there. Astrid was nothing special to look at, it seemed, but the 11 year old daughter of one of our volunteers kept asking us to find out if we could put a rescue tag on her. We knew nothing about her, including the loss of her litter. She just kept looking at us and it broke our hearts. She had pretty much given up. She was calm and didn’t even jump up on the fence when we walked by. I decided on a whim to just tag her and didn’t think about it. She was nervous in the car but very sweet. We didn’t know if she was okay with other dogs or cats but wanted to take a chance on her anyway. We were absolutely blown away at her sweet disposition and gentle nature. She has been truly amazing. We had her tested for heartworms/Ehrlichia/anaplasma and sadly she is a light heartworm positive. We have already started her on slow kill heartworm treatment so she is on her way to becoming negative. Her medication will come with her at no extra cost. She is great with other dogs, cats and kids! She is utd on all her vaccines, utd on flea & tick med, microchipped, dewormed and will be spayed before put on transport. She is extremely sweet and deserves a good home! Please apply today!
