Don’t let his looks fool you! While Peter came in severely matted to the shelter, we had no choice but to have his fur trimmed down so her can breathe, but it will surely grow back out in no time! Peter is 12 Pound Maltese Mix who is just 2 years old! Peter feels most comfortable indoors (i.e. home). His favorite activity is receiving pets and cuddling. Peter likes to be nearby his humans and follows his foster mom from room to room. Peter loves toys, treats, and gets super excited when he sees his leash. He leaps up and down when he is happy. Outside, Peter is quite timid/cautious. He likes going for walks, but can get overstimulated and anxious when meeting new people/dogs. Once you've gained Peters trust, he is a total mush! He will ask for lots of pets and cuddles and will prod your hand with his nose to let you know to keep going. Indoors peter is a good balance of playful and calm. After coming inside from a walk, he gets the zoomies and loves to prance around with his toys. He is a very springy and happy dog. Outside and when he is in an unfamiliar setting, Peter is very shy. His foster mom shares her favorite things about him are: He is such a LOVEBUG once he warms up to you; He has so much personality & spunk; His springy jumps and when he stands on his hind legs to ask for attention (he looks like a meerkat).

Peter’s ideal home would be a calm and quiet household where Peter can get lots and lots of loving. Peter would be the best work from home buddy. Perhaps, even a household with another more confident resident dog who could help Peter come out of his shell! Adopt him at rescuecity.nyc/adopt
