Please meet Zander Zander Zoolander! He is a chihuahua terrier mix and about 8 months old and weighs 16 pounds currently.
This boy is sweet and cute! I mean those ears! They are the best! You never know what they will do! When he is on alert, both ears go up, but when he is relaxed, it’s one ear up and one ear down. And he always looks like he has a smile on his face. That alone makes his foster family smile. He’s so handsome, and has an amazing personality to boot. He’s a happy go lucky guy, who is always ready for some fun. Although initially shy in new situations, he does warm up, especially when there are other dogs to play with. For this reason we feel there should be another dog in his forever home. Zander is a typical puppy - full of fun with a dash of mischief! He loves to be outside and will play and play and play.
Zander has caught on to the concept of house training. He knows exactly what to do when he goes outside. Zander does not know how to tell you he has to go out, so it will be up to you let him out regularly when you are home. Zander is completely crate trained and has no problem sleeping the day away while you are at work. Once you are home though, be prepared for all the excitement of a typical puppy. He’s got all the zoomies and is ready to play. He does settle down quickly though. As we have said, this boy loves to play. If you don’t have time to play, or have an older dog, Zander will find a stuffie to fling around in the air to entertain himself.
He does have a fully fenced yard in his foster home. We have been working on leash training and Zander seems to be catching on. He’s just not quite there yet. He tends to be a follower, so if you are walking another dog, Zander is happy to go along. Zander loves to be with other dogs and loves to play - he likes to pull at his foster mom's pants as she walks and is often poking her with his nose. Sometimes he even walks between her legs, so that you know he is there.
Zander has blossomed in his foster home - he is really becoming a good little dog. He is eager to please and listens well to his foster mom. He likes to snuggle on the couch and watch TV with you in the evenings and at bedtime he is right there sleeping between her legs. Zander has no issues riding in the car either, he is perfectly content to lay securely in a crate. He’s so quiet you may forget he is even there! Xander has been around cats, and other small animals and does not bother them at all. He is a little curious initially but then forgets they are even around. Zander has not been around small children, and because he is nervous initially, slightly older kids (10+) may be better for him. Younger kids may be too fast moving for him to adjust to initially.
