My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

🐾 Meet Laika! 🐾

Introducing Laika, the happiest, bounciest girl who instantly rolls over for belly rubs from anyone she meets. With her gentle and sometimes submissive nature, Laika is a joy to be around. At about 60 pounds and an estimated three years old, Laika might be a boxer-pit mix. What's undeniable is her love for life.

Watch her adoption video here!

She welcomes everyone like long-lost friends, eager to share her love and get some affection. Though she has shown a tendency to jump in her excitement, she responds well to correction and quickly calms down, making her a well-mannered house pet.

Laika particularly loves playing with male dogs and truly enjoys their company! Her boundless energy is more apparent outside, where she has a medium to high energy level and eagerly chases lizards and rabbits whenever she can.

She flourishes in an environment where she can run and play to her heart's content. Inside the house, she's a laid-back companion, content to lounge on the couch or a cozy bed, demonstrating that she can balance her spirit with a calm indoor demeanor.

Currently fostered in Texas, Laika joyfully plays around the backyard. She gets along splendidly with her foster sibling and is completely potty trained, not chewing anything but her toys. While she has a high prey drive and may not be ready for the farmer's market due to her overstimulation, she's the perfect companion for someone with a secure yard who enjoys playful, energetic companionship.

Laika loves children, offering gentle kisses and showing an incredible softness around them. Her manners are exemplary; she shares toys and food with her canine housemates and sits for treats. Laika has learned commands like 'sit,' 'high five,' and 'shake' and goes to her crate on cue. She relishes her training sessions, showing a sharp intellect and responsiveness, especially to treats and pets.

Crate-trained and dog-friendly, Laika is a social butterfly in the making. She could be the only dog in a home but would also thrive with a pup companion to play with. Although she needs a strong handler during walks, especially when other animals are near, her love for the great outdoors and her adoration for comfy indoor cuddles are clear.

Laika's cutest habit is carrying her affectionate title of "Licka Laika," generously bestowing kisses and cuddling on the couch. She can be vocal when she spots her reflection or sees animals outside, but she's become less so over time within the house.

Ready to add a dose of joy to your life with a dog who's all about love and fun? Laika is an incredible family pet prepared to fill your life with happiness and countless cuddles. Take your chance to make Laika part of your family today. With the right guidance and patience, she's sure to be an exemplary companion. Apply to adopt Laika today and start the adventure with your new best friend! 🌟💖

*WE ARE TOLD THAT WE GO ABOVE AND BEYOND MEDICALLY. This is the feedback we tend to get, although we cannot guarantee perfect health.
*To fully vet a dog in the PNW at many vets it would be upwards of $1,800 just to fix, vaccinate, chip, etc. The adoption fees charged by our rescue do not cover our expenses medically for each animal, but we offset costs with donations. Your adoption fee is considered a donation towards actual costs.

The stray and animal overpopulation in the Greater Houston area is one of the highest in the nation. Statistics show that there are over 1 million homeless animals in this region alone! Three Little Pitties Rescue is a nonprofit dog and cat rescue that partners with the community to make a difference. Our mission is to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and saving all breeds of dogs and cats from the streets or animal shelters that oftentimes have no choice but to euthanize animals for space. We prepare them for adoption by properly vetting and providing individualized care through our incredible behavior program that consists of socialization and leash training for all animals that enter our adoption program, prior to matching them with loving families who will treasure them for the rest of their lives. They are rescue dogs and will require continued training efforts once adopted, but will be well on their way to being the best dogs that they can be!

Three Little Pitties Rescue just celebrated our 5 year anniversary! Over the course of this time, we have been very fortunate for so much growth, allowing us to further connect with the community and save many lives. Through the combined efforts of all of our hardworking staff and volunteers, we have placed over 11,000 very lucky dogs and cats into amazing homes! By adopting from us, you save TWO lives! The pet you adopt, and you create an opportunity for another animal to be brought into our rescue program. Together, we can be heroes.
