Leo is a very gentle and cautious cat. He loves snuggling with you and will always be in whatever room you are in. He pretends he’s little grumpy but it’s all bark and no bite and makes everyone laugh, especially when he’s grumbling and purring at the same time. He is in his prime and full of life and energy! He enjoys playing with strings, crinkle balls, and pouncing on bugs in the backyard. He also loves food so be ready for those meows whenever you open the fridge!
Leo would be most happy in a warm and loving home with a patient guardian or family and no other cats or dogs.
Born 11/7/2018
Leo was rescued as a kitten by a humane society who found him trapped in a fence. He struggled so hard to free himself his rear claws no longer retract and to protect himself, he developed a very loud meow to scare other cats away. He was adopted and soon after, moved in with her in-laws and was unable to keep him because of the family dog. Leo was then placed with her mother who already had 3 large cats.
Due to his trauma from being trapped, Leo has severe anxiety toward other cats. Unfortunately, this living situation caused him so much more anxiety that he was chewing holes into his belly and his back until they would bleed. It was so heartbreaking to see that so a friend took him home and have been trying to help him for the past 10 months. They treated his scabs, took him to the vet and began a long process of medical attention to give him the best quality of life possible. Over the past few months, he has had 4 teeth removed due to reabsorption, identification and treatment for FHV-1 (feline herpes) that he most likely contracted as a stray feral kitten, management of his anxiety & stress levels, and received all up-to-date vaccinations.
As of now, he is fully healed, and his condition is easily manageable. He gets 500mg of lysine powder with his wet food each day. His new family would only need to continue the lysine treatment ($5/month) and his routine check-ups since the rest of his needs were covered with 7 different veterinarians.
Leo is now being surrendered through Meowtown because her senior cat is causing him anxiety again that is like a panic attack. He has been through so much and he deserves a safe and happy life. He is fine with older children. He is an Indoor/Outdoor cat, so adopter must provide a safe space if going outdoors.
