Here's what the humans have to say about me:
** Max is available for foster or adoption! We'd love to get him out of the busy shelter and into a home environment. Email applications@chicagocaninerescue.org to set up a meet + greet! **
Max is truly a CCR classic, akin to the iconic Chicago Hot Dog at Portillo's! Max is getting older, but he's still brimming with spunk and ready for some cozy snoozes. This shepherd mix embodies the spirit of a loyal companion, finding joy in playful moments with toys and leisurely walks with his pals. Max still has plenty of pep in his step!
Originally adopted in 2016, Max found himself back in our care after several years when his previous owner could no longer provide for him. While we're delighted to have this lovable champ back in our midst, we're excited to see him longing for his forever "retirement home."
Max is a fan of car rides, enjoying the simple pleasure of sniffing the breeze. He has been polite on walks, responding well to cues to help redirect his attentions. When taking walks near other dogs and people, Max has done great with a "leave it" cue. He also seems to know "sit" and "wait".
Max's warm-hearted nature and affable personality shine through once he gets to know you. He thrives on gentle introductions to new friends, understandably taking his time to build trust after experiencing life's uncertainties. With a history of change behind him, Max eagerly awaits the stability of a routine and the comfort of a loving family.
Could you be the one to give Max his well-deserved second chance? He's ready to meet you!

More about this shelter
CCRF was founded in 2001 to help find permanent, loving homes for homeless dogs in our city. In just over seven years, CCRF has saved the lives of over 2,000 dogs, cats, kittens and puppies.
CCRF now assists the animals that are the MOST vulnerable in Midwest - the dogs and cats that are slated for euthanasia because they are too old, too young, injured, have disabilities, or have simply been overlooked for too long by potential adopters at other shelters.
