My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Skye is a cute and cuddly teenage pup, she's in a period of her life where she has a lot of energy but is eager to train and set herself up to be a well behaved adult dog. She's goofy and still has puppy zoomies but is potty trained, crate trained (but likes having a cozy bed) and sleeps through the night). Skye was previously a street dog and is nervous about new people since she doesn't know how they'll react to her. She is very vocal about being scared but with a few snacks, she easily becomes friends with strangers.

This girl is very food motivated! With a few chunks of hotdog you can train her to do just about anything! But she's at a period where she needs someone who will help her learn boundaries since she doesn't quite know manners yet. She learns what she should and should not chew on but it does take time for her to learn.

She loves the kids in the house and follows them around constantly! She could use another dog to teach her how to, well… dog but would be better in a household with only one other dog at the moment since she's easily excited! She lives with two cats currently. One plays with her and the other ignores her but a slow introduction to cats would be recommended so she knows if they do or don't want to play.

Overall Skye is a loving and cuddly puppy that needs some guidance on how to be a good dog but she is looking for the love of her life to help guide and grow with her!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

All dogs are fully vetted, have age appropriate core vaccinations, and have been spayed/neutered and microchiped. 100% of the adoption fees go back to helping us rescue more dogs.

Our adoption process consists of an application, phone or face to face interview, home visit and reference checks. If you are approved to adopt from Tails of the Unwanted, you will be required to sign an adoption contract.

Go meet their pets

Our dogs are placed in foster homes around North Carolina and currently in the Concord, Charlotte, Greensboro, Winston Salem, High Point and Salisbury areas. We want our dogs to be placed in a loving and caring home and will arrange meet and greets with approved adopters.

More about this rescue

We are a rescue that networks and promote shelter dogs at risk of being euthanized at high kill shelters. If no one comes to their rescue, we step in. We are always looking for fosters and donations as well as volunteers so that we can continue to save the dogs who have run out of time at the high kill shelters.
