Here's what the humans have to say about me:
I am going to be the bragging foster mom:) At barely 2 years old, Savannah is young and loves to play and would do well with a fenced in back yard where she can run freely. She is high energy and would do best in a home with another medium to large dog that she could wrestle with, run with, and chase. Savannah is also potty trained to go near a fence line and in the same spot all the time. This is the dog you want to take with you to restaurants when dining out. Savannah knows her name, comes when called, can sit, lay down, give a paw, give kisses, and speak on command. She has leash manners as long as she has a harness and the leash is attached to the chest area.....My girl will walk right beside you all the way. We are still working on the command to stay; however, I am fully confident with practice, and consistency she will ace in this area. Savannah gets along with my other foster who is only 15 lbs and a senior, and she tolerates and barks with her tail wagging at my cat, who doesn’t like any other animals including some family members LOL. Savannah is 80lbs of pure love. Once she has attached to her human you are hers for life. This girl will follow you wherever you go and cry when she can’t find you. Savannah is food/treat motivated which would help with any further training you desire. Drop a treat in her crate and she will gladly enter for her bedtime sleep. She gets super excited when I come home from an outing so be cautious of her tail which whips back and forth along with her 80 lb butt:). We are working on not jumping up when she is excited to see me come home from
an outing and thus far, she is doing well with verbal reminders and lots of pets on her head and scratches on her bottom. Savannah also likes her quiet time where she finds herself a spot to take a nap. She is neither destructive nor aggressive in any way. Normally I would say Savannah would be lucky to find a good family when actually a family would be lucky to get such a great dog.
Are you interested in adopting this dog or another JCAPL pet you have seen? You'll need to start by completing an adoption application, available online at our website: www.jcapl.org. There is no obligation to adopt by completing an application, however, we do recommend submitting an application as soon as you find an animal you are interested in. We review applications in the order they are received. Completed applications can be sent via email to adopt@jcapl.org, faxed to 919-300-5524 or delivered in person by visiting us at one of our adoption events on Saturdays at PetSmart in Garner (White Oak Shopping Center). We will contact you as soon as possible once we receive your application. Thanks for thinking adoption!
