My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Oden came to us with his brother, Opie.  They were adopted as puppies about a year ago and were just returned for killing 2 chickens and chasing the family cats.  They are great with other dogs and kids too.  Oden is kennel trained and would make a great family pet, as long as you don't have chickens or cats.  He is a little on the timid side, but has a very loving nature.  He has the most beautiful blue eyes you have every seen. He is the perfect size too, will not be more than 35 pounds. Oden would do best in a home with another dog.  If you would like more information, please contact our shelter at 870-269-5200 or go to our website and complete an adoption application at schspets.org.

More about this shelter

The Stone County Humane Society is a 501(C)(3) private organization, not a government entity that was formed in 1999. We rescue dogs and cats and are a no-kill shelter but we are not an open take in facility. We are currently operating from our new shelter building recently completed in August 2016 and a cat cottage. Our organization is managed by a volunteer board of 10 individuals and a full-time paid employee shelter manager that handles the day to day operations, and three part-time paid employees that feed and care for the animals and keep the facility clean. Most of our daily operations are funded by proceeds from a Second Chance Shop in town and donations from individuals. We also provide low cost spay/neuter clinics to the people of our county with help from a local vet.
