My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

***NEEDS FUREVER HOME***
Currently in Boise

This 2-year-old smart pup named JAVA with big brown eyes is good with dogs, a quick learner, loving, inquisitive, and the perfect size. He is lucky to be in a temporary foster home in Boise while we search for his furever home that should include either another dog or someone home a lot.

He already knows how to sit, shake and lay down. He takes treats gently and likes head scratchies. He is cuddly, but will give you space when you are done giving love and when he wants to be alone.

He is great on leash and moves at the pace that is set. He has a good recall during the few times that he has been off-leash.

JAVA likes to wade and walk through the water. He doesn’t seem bothered by thunder or lightning. He is already house-trained (zero accidents).

JAVA is still young and is still learning. A few things noticed so far can be easily fixed if you just give him the space to learn. He is treat-motivated so he makes it easy. He gets distracted by squirrels, but it has been easy to pull his attention with treats.

Although JAVA is good (e.g., non-reactive) when another dog may show some reactivity, JAVA has not yet learned how to share his toys or his people. He will usually vocalize a low growl. JAVA could also use some training in how to meet new people, but, once he has met you, he shows his hugging skills.

JAVA needs some training on his relationship with the crate. If you are going to crate train just have a little patience with him and he will get there. We have seen him have separation anxiety (e.g., vocal and running around) when left alone with no dog or person with him.
