My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Curtis
6/7 yr old 55 lbs AmStaff Terrier.
Courtesy Post- Curtis is with one of Hail Mary’s fosters.

To be quite honest I’ve never seen a dog more deserving of a good couch in a forever home than Curtis. When I asked Haseya’s New Beginning Animal Rescue how I could help with current overcrowding they sent me his info and medical report. This dog has overcome so much since Aug 2022 just to be alive and he still has a sweet disposition.
He was taken in by Louisiana Animal Control in Aug of 2022 after being left for dead, tied up outside with no food, water or shelter. His “owners” had vacated property and left the dogs behind. Unable to leave and fend for themselves they were slowly dying tied to trees.
His jaw had obviously been broken at some point and he was also dealing with a severe case of heartworm.
It took his body months to be strong enough to handle the heartworm treatment and even then it was slow going to avoid more damage to him. He overcame obstacle after obstacle and he is now heartworm free and has been doing very well medically.
He has been lucky and hasn’t been in shelter full time but has had a few foster homes over the past 10 months. They report he is great with other dogs, cat friendly and good with kids. Absolutely loves toys and enjoys playing. He is well past puppyhood and he is housebroken. His most recent foster mom in Louisiana sent a lovely letter up with him to help new parents get to know him faster. He has been well loved these last 10 months.
Neutered and vaccinated he has tested negative for heartworm and with continued preventative will stay clean and his body will continue to repair itself.
If you would like to give Curtis a furever home contact mysel for more info.
If you would like to send a donation to Haseya’s I will post their links in comments. His medical bills are extensive and being a no kill shelter they provide treatment to many, many dogs.
