My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Please contact Jill (Poisonedjello@gmail.com) for more information about this pet.brown tabby

Shirley is one of those kitties who is personality plus...this girl bubbles over with the sillies. She's a big time chatterbox who has no problem telling you what she thinks about any situation. If you asked me to describe her ...I'd have to say 'it's complicated'. This girl loves one on one attention, but initially she will ask you to earn her company. But once you make eye contact and let her know you are going to interact with her, she's in heaven. She reaches out with her paws to grab you, loves head scratches and even the quick belly rub. You know you've won her heart when she brings you her furry mouse toy. Shirley does well with all people who move slowly and respect her comfort levels, so she may do better in a home with no small children...unless those children can be patient And gentle. Sometimes Shirley forgets to keep her claws in during play and she will give love nips for attention. Although Shirley does well with other cats, she will need an adjustment period when meeting a new feline friend. It takes her a little time to learn about other cats and how they communicate before she's 100% comfortable. But in time, she's done well with all the other cats at the shop. She's also done well with our shop dog and would likely do fine with a calm cat friendly dog. I adore Shirley and I know from experience that she would reward her human companion with lots of love, loyalty and entertainment.

Additional adoption info

We offer an online adoption application at www.castwaycritters.org. We do check references, vet references, and housechecks. Once you are approved, you will be required to fill out an adoption agreement. Our animals have all been wormed, altered and vaccinated. Cats have been tested for FIV/FeLV. For more information, see our website at www.castawaycritters.org.

Adoption application

Go meet their pets

All of our animals are in foster care so please complete an application at our website (www.castawaycritters.org) before meeting them. Completing an application does not obligate you to adopt; however, it is required. Applications are processed in the order received in an effort to find the best match possible for both the dog and the adopter.

Please also check out our events page on our website as fosters sometimes bring their available animals out to meet people!

More about this rescue

We are a non-profit rescue group that takes in stray, abandoned, and sick animals, giving them medical and foster care until available for adoption. We offer low cost spay/neuter clinics to the public and a special program called Operation CatNIP for pet cats of low income qualified individuals and feral cats, and assist in TNR for cats.
