Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Rickie has arrived to us from very humble beginnings living with humans who did not understand how to give him the guidance that a puppy needs. Until now, he never received any direction in life. All that has changed for Rickie and we have given him the training that he not only needs but desperately craves.
Rickie is super smart and very willing to please. This is important to note as not all dogs are as willing to learn as Rickie. He has been assessed by a professional trainer who has given his foster family clear guidance and his progress in a short time is incredible. He now knows commands of sit, down stay, giving paw and will retrieve his favorite toy from the toy box and return it to his foster pawrents. When he gets excited, as young boys do on occasion, he has learned to go to his toy box to get his favorite toy to calm himself. Rickie has learned self-control during many situations that used to cause him confusion which led him to react in an un-Collie like manner.
Have we mentioned the progress he has made?! 😊
Coming into rescue, Rickie had very high energy that was not harnessed into positive activities. We feel he would be an excellent candidate for agility or rally events. We would prefer a family without children under the age of 10. A fence would be ideal but not necessary to the right adopter willing to give him the exercise he needs. He is equally happy hanging out watching the birds and squirrels. Rickie also enjoys bonding time with grooming sessions and we found he now loves to be brushed and will reward you with a cuddle on your lap. Rickie hasn’t met anyone he doesn’t like and is just waiting for that special adopter to call all his own.
Rickie is being fostered in Michigan.
