My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Gentle and beautiful Miss Lucy was found with three other dogs, apparently dumped, in a rural area along the Ohio/Indiana border. Since the time we humanely trapped her, Lucy has been in foster with a kind family who are showing her what it means to be cherished and safe. She is blossoming from a shy dog to a cuddle bug who loves soft pillows and blankets and wants to to snuggle for hours on the couch with her foster mom. She pretty much wants to be with her foster mom all the time.

She is very curious once she gets comfortable and loves other dogs. Having a doggie companion in her new home would be ideal. She is good with cats, too!

She’s mastering her potty habits outside, getting used to a leash, and thrives in a fenced yard where she can play freely and safely. She is meticulous in her crate as well.

She is not a barker. She squeals with happiness when you arrive home, but she’s never actually barked.

Miss Lucy is available for adoption within Ohio and southeastern Indiana. If you are interested in adopting this lovely girl, please complete the online application here (copy and paste into your browser):

More about this rescue

Lost Pet Recovery, Inc. (LPR) is a team of experienced volunteeers who specialize in the safe recovery of skittish dogs. While our main purpose is to reunite missing dogs with their families, we do catch stray dogs who have proven difficult for others to catch. When we are unable to locate these dogs' homes, we place them for adoption.

All dogs we adopt out receive medical care, including being spayed or neutered, without exception. Not only does it provide health benefits to these dogs and stop the cycle of filling Ohio's streets and shelters with more puppies, but it also reduces the risk of the dog becoming loose again.

In addition to safely recovering lost pets and promoting spay/neuter, our group provides education to owners of dogs we recover, shelter staff, and the general public about protecting flight risk dogs - always beginning with the spay/neuter conversation.
