My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Peaches, the sweetest 5-year-old lady who enjoys lounging around, sleeping on soft blankets, and keeping a watch out the window. Although she may be shy with new people at first, she has lots of love to give once she warms up to you. She loves to be in the company of her person, so much that she doesn't like to be left alone for long periods of time. She is a purr machine and loves her scratching post and bumble bee toy. Peaches has not experienced any health issues apart from the occasional overeating (she lovessss food). A regular steady diet and mealtime schedule are very important. Peaches is very curious and always wants to know what's happening around her but can be easily startled by sudden movements and sounds. A quiet, calm home so she can sleep peacefully is very important. She isn’t the most keen on other animals but with time she may have the potential to warm up to other small, independent animals who also keep to themselves. She is best suited to an adopter who works from home the majority of the time in order to provide Peaches with all the attention and love that she wants . Peaches has the fluffiest belly and biggest stretches and is ready for her forever home.

More about this rescue

Our rescue group was formed in December 2007, but all our Board Members have had extensive experience rescuing and working with abandoned animals. We often work with other rescue organizations to find appropriate and safe foster and adoptive homes for our pet clients. We regularly go to areas with abandoned animals and collect them. The animals are taken to a licensed veterinarian examined, treated and spayed or neutered. Every effort is made to work with the animal and our foster and adoptive families to find a suitable forever home.

For those animals who are truly wild and feral, we release the animal in a safe and secure location after it has recovered from its medical treatment. We also work with certified wildlife rehabilitators to rescue injured and orphaned wildlife. Our organization is focused on improving the welfare of the abandoned animals in need of help in Brooklyn. In furthering that goal, our resources are focused on the animals.

Aside from a few minimal overhead costs such as our website and phone services, our entire budget is spent on animal care such as medical and food costs.
