Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hellen is a sweet, loving, and friendly dog who is looking for her forever home! She recently underwent surgery in Mexico to remove both of her eyes, but she remains happy and playful and has proven herself to be surprisingly adaptable. Hellen responds well to auditory cues and enjoys “seeing” the world through her nose. As if Hellen weren’t cute enough as it is, she even looks like she's smiling when she waits patiently for a treat or for some attention. She is thriving in a calm and stable environment, is super cuddly, and loves spending quality time with her foster family. Hellen also likes to frolic in the grass, especially in the morning dew.
Hellen is super eager to meet new dogs and gets really excited when she senses (hears/smells) another dog. Her tail wags, she doesn't bark much, and she shows a playful, confident curiosity. Hellen enjoys listening to classical music at bedtime, and her foster family says that if it weren’t for them having two cats and two dogs already, they would keep her because she's just that lovely!
Hellen is hoping to find a home with few stairs (if any) to prevent her from falling and an adopter who is home more often than not, since she has demonstrated some separation anxiety and prefers not to be alone all day. She currently relies on her fosters’ presence to help her navigate things like stairs, going outside, and finding toys and her water and food bowls. She also needs regular reassurance that she's okay as she adjusts to both her new environment and her recent total loss of vision. If there is another dog in the home, it would ideally be calm and tolerant since her blindness means she sometimes bumps into other pets and people.
