My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Oreo is a bit shy and insecure. He's sweet with people he's met but can take a while to warm up to people. Oreo does have some resource guarding, but we're working through that. Oreo came into the rescue with his brother Moco. Both have high prey drives and like to chase anything from bees to cars so they can not go to a home with small animals or children. Neither has had much as far as training goes, but both are pretty quick learners. They are crate trained, although they prefer not to be in them, the foster parent has left both in crates while at work and they do well. They both pull while on leash, but do well with gentle lead head collars. They have been on hikes and enjoy those! They love to be outdoors and to explore. They know sit, but do not stay very well. The foster has been working with both with basic manners, although we think they'd learn quicker in separate homes. They feed off each other, not in a good way. Most of us wish the dogs that come into our care could stay together, but sometimes it's better for the dogs to be separated in order to live a happier, healthier life. If these two where adopted together, adopter would need to be very experienced. Together or separate, they'll need some continued basic obedience training. With their physical and personality traits, we believe these boys are a Jack Russell, Corgi and Bully mix. We adopt within 100 miles of Waldorf, MD. If interested please fill out an adoption application www.rescueangelssomd.com. All dogs receive vet care before adoption, including spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccinations, Heartworm/Lyme/Ehrlichia 4DX snap test, deworming, flea/tick/heartworm prevention, and microchip. Indoor homes only and we expect all dogs to be family members. Adoption fee applies and adoption application required.

Additional adoption info

Our pet adoption process is thorough and efficient, to ensure we do our due diligence and choose the best fit for our animals. The adoption process begins with an adoption application to further your interest in our dogs/cats. The adoption application is non-binding and completion does not guarantee adoption. Our adoption coordinators will contact your references and contact you for an initial interview. Once approved for adoption, we will help you coordinate a visit to the foster home or invite you to our next public adoption event. A home check, interview, and reference check is required. Your family should help decide which animal is best suited for your home and lifestyle. Please remember that this decision should not be handled lightly and we expect you to care for your pet throughout its lifetime, keeping emergencies and financial status in mind. If you think there's any possibility you won't be able to give the pet the best life possible, then please do not adopt. Our volunteers are always on hand to help answer your questions and to help you choose a pet that is right for you.

Go meet their pets

We are a foster-based Rescue organization, so all pets are in a loving, comfortable foster home until adopted. We do not do same day walk-in adoptions. We have a process that all potential adopters must complete. Approved adopters can meet the pets and finalize adoption after a trial period. Please check our website at www.rescueangelssomd.com and our Facebook page for information.

More about this rescue

Rescue Angels' mission is to change the lives of animals in need by rescuing them from undesirable situations, providing loving homes, and providing any needed medical care (including mandatory spay and neuter) while in our programs. We are a foster home based, all volunteer organization. All animals are provided a loving, comfortable foster home until adopted. We are proud to also have a successful TNR (trap-neuter-return) program to limit the population and euthanasia of feral cats. Our adoption fee of $150 for cats ($280 for two cats) and $350-$600 for dogs. Some cats and dogs have reduced adoption fees. The veterinary care includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, FeLV/FIV/heartworm/tick borne disease testing, deworming, microchip, and starters of flea/tick/heartworm prevention. We prohibit declawing of cats and all animals must be indoor only pets, unless otherwise noted (feral/barn cats). Home checks required. Adoption application required. Applications can be found at www.rescueangelssomd.com.
