Maisy is a beautiful black and tan standard with a heart as good as gold. She is a tail wagger, a kisser and a lovebug extraordinaire.
She came to us in dire need of bladder stone surgery, which we were able to have done immediately. It's a good thing we did because the vet removed THIRTY-THREE of those sharp and spiky buggers which had her in excruciating pain.
Her foster mama says you'd never know she had the surgery now. Her 'recovery' is a word we use lightly since she is 100% back to normal and happy as a clam to be pain-freeeeeee.
Maisy is a sponge for love, and she gives as good as she gets. We do think she needs to lose a few pounds to keep her at her best and most healthiest weight, but that will be easy with walks and playtime and not overfeeding her.
Speaking of food, Maisy will need to be on a particular food for the rest of her life that will keep those kidney stones from forming. It's not a big deal at all, just like some of us are gluten-free or dairy avoidant.
Maisy is a loving doggie who does well with other canines and older kiddos.
If you are interested in adopting Maisy, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to our
online adoption application. Maisy's adoption fee is $400.
All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Maisy will go to her new home microchipped, spayed, heartworm tested, up to date on vaccinations, and with all other medical needs addressed.
Almost every dog's veterinary expenses exceed our adoption fees; we are a non-profit.
DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group. We focus on the metro Atlanta area and can assist throughout the state of Georgia.
Since our rescue is entirely run and staffed by volunteers, our ability to travel long distances for adoptions is somewhat limited. We focus on Georgia, but if you are in a neighboring state, we might be able to work something out - we'll expect you to do your part.
DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back.
