My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Carnelian is a 5-year-old feline in search of a forever home! She has a mellow temperament, making her the perfect companion for those seeking a calm and loving presence. She tends to keep to herself, and she loves playing with dangly toys! Carnelian prefers a quiet household without children where she can truly shine as the devoted friend she is! She does well with other calm cats and wouldn't mind some in her new home. Carnelian is FIV+, FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) is one of the most common cat viruses that can only spread between cats through deep bite wounds. With proper and routine care, cats with FIV+ generally live average lifespans.

More about this shelter

The mission of the Humane Society of Southwest Missouri is to aid in the alleviation of distress and suffering of animals by operating a shelter in need of care, placing animals in suitable homes, and offering educational programs that promote animal welfare.

We receive our animals from people giving up their pets for a variety of reasons, including changes in family situations and moving. Some of our animals have been strays rescued from the streets by a kind citizen, but all of our animals are looking for permanent, loving forever homes.
