My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Leo is a 2 yr old terrier mix. He weighs 88 lbs and is full of love and kisses. He was returned to us from being adopted as a puppy. After living with a cat for 9 months, he decided he no longer liked the cat and has become dog selective.

Leo is smart and listens very well. He is house trained and doesn't need a crate. Does good riding in the car. Leo needs to get all the love and prefers home with no other animals. Older kids would also be best as he doesn't know how big he really is.

Leo is slow to warm up, but with a little patience , he's all yours. An experienced dog owner is required.

Please give this big guy a chance. He's a good boy just waiting for his forever home.

All dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm tested negative (age 7 months and older) and microchipped. We do not ship or transport. A dog's adoption donation is $200. There is a $5 fee for credit/debit cards.

All of our dogs, cats, rabbits & ferrets are spayed or neutered prior to adoption. Small animals are usually not altered. We have adoption applications, a short interview process, and an adoption fee for each animal. All animals (except rabbits & small animals) are up to date on all shots.

We hold adoption events on Saturdays at Petsmart in Mishawaka from 11-3. We also hold other events throughout the year. Company Overview
Heartland Small Animal Rescue Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization serving South Bend, IN and surrounding towns by taking in homeless pets and adopting them out into loving homes. We also work closely with local shelters to reduce euthanasia rates by pulling animals and putting them in our program.
