My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Shelby is a young dog who is very active. She needs some work on leash manners, but knows basic commands. She absolutely loves the play yard, the minute she is off the leash the zoomies start and she's just a flash as she runs by you. Once the energy is out she leans against you for hugs and love. She would do best with someone who is patient with her and is willing to put in the time and effort to train her. She's no cats and has been selective with other dogs so a meet and greet would be required if there are other dogs in the home. She's smart and eager to learn and would love to have a family of her own.

More about this shelter

The Allegany County Animal Shelter serves as the municipal shelter for Allegany County and is located at 716 Furnace Street in Cumberland. For many years, the shelter served as the final destination for nearly 85% of the animals that entered it. In late 2010, a group of passionate citizens led the charge to change the nature of the shelter with a goal of doing as much as possible for every animal, every day. It was the first step on the journey to becoming A Shelter of Hope.
