My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Kitty Kat! She was born around the Spring of 2022. She was rescued from the outdoors, and for the past year has been indoors living the good life with the family who saved her. Unfortunately this family is unable to keep her permanently but they’re able to keep fostering her while we search for a wonderful family for her!

Kitty Kat is a little shy when new people approach; however, she does warm up to people very quickly. She’s a smart, playful, and super curious girl. She enjoys being where the humans are and likes to rub her face and body against them. She seeks human interaction and is very talkative. We feel she would do best in a home with no young children.

Kitty Kat hasn’t been tested with other cats and she’s not a fan of dogs. In her current foster home, as much as she’s doing well with the humans, she is kept in a separate area in the house, away from the dog.

Kitty Kat is finally ready to move to a permanent home of her own. Do you think Kitty Kat would be a good fit in your home?

If interested in fostering to adopt Kitty Kat to see if she would get along with your cat(s) and be a good fit in your home, please fill out a foster application:
https://www.care4strays.org/foster-application

If interested in adopting, please fill out an adoption application at https://www.care4strays.org/adoption-application

Please note our service area is the Pascack Valley within Bergen County, NJ and its surrounding area, as we personally deliver all adopted animals to their forever homes. Please consider our distance when applying to adopt an animal.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The first step in our process is to fill out our online application at our website, www.care4strays.org. Once received, it will be reviewed by one of our trained volunteers. If approved, we'll be in touch to arrange a "meet and greet" with the animal. All of our cats/dogs are in private foster homes.

Adoption application

Go meet their pets

Our animals are given wonderful care in private foster homes. In order to meet them, we require a completed application, which you can find at our website, www.care4strays.org.

Also, please check our website for adoption events.

More about this rescue

Since our founding in 1995 by Lynn Cancro, Caring About The Strays (C.A.T.S.), Inc. has worked to find “forever homes” for abandoned, unwanted, neglected, or abused companion animals.

All the animals in our care are in foster homes, which helps socialize the cat or dog and allows us to identify the best type of home for each animal to ensure a successful adoption. We also work to reduce the overpopulation of feral cats with our Trap-Neuter-Release program. In addition, our team also strives to educate the public about the importance of spaying or neutering their pets to decrease the number of unwanted pets.

C.A.T.S. is not a shelter in the traditional sense; we rely on private foster homes to house the many unwanted animals in our care.

Our Resale Shop (80 Kinderkamack Road in Westwood, NJ) helps fund our efforts. Please consider donating to our Resale Shop. Donations of brand-new and gently-used items are needed year-round and can be donated during shop hours Monday – Saturday 10:00 – 5:00.
