My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Lily! Lily was born approximately in the fall of 2019. Lily is unique with her adorable little crinkled ear. She was rescued from outside with her tiny kittens back in 2021.
Lily can be shy at first but will be very loving and sweet once she is comfortable! She will even sit on your lap for short amounts of time and loves being pet. She’s a very easy going companion and would do fine in a home with other cats and well behaved dogs. Won’t you give her a chance?

(Her kittens Nina, Cali and Stella are still available for adoption as well, and can be adopted in combination with any family member.) Follow this link to read more about them! https://www.petfinder.com/search/pets-for-adoption/?shelter_id%5B0%5D=NJ371&sort%5B0%5D=recently_added)

If interested, please fill out an adoption application at https://www.care4strays.org/adoption-application

A foster to adopt situation could be perfect to make sure Lily would be a good fit in your home. You can fill out an application at https://www.care4strays.org/foster-application

Please note our service area is the Pascack Valley within Bergen County, NJ, and its surrounding area. Please consider our distance when applying to adopt an animal as we personally deliver all adopted animals to their forever homes.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The first step in our process is to fill out our online application at our website, www.care4strays.org. Once received, it will be reviewed by one of our trained volunteers. If approved, we'll be in touch to arrange a "meet and greet" with the animal. All of our cats/dogs are in private foster homes.

Adoption application

Go meet their pets

Our animals are given wonderful care in private foster homes. In order to meet them, we require a completed application, which you can find at our website, www.care4strays.org.

Also, please check our website for adoption events.

More about this rescue

Since our founding in 1995 by Lynn Cancro, Caring About The Strays (C.A.T.S.), Inc. has worked to find “forever homes” for abandoned, unwanted, neglected, or abused companion animals.

All the animals in our care are in foster homes, which helps socialize the cat or dog and allows us to identify the best type of home for each animal to ensure a successful adoption. We also work to reduce the overpopulation of feral cats with our Trap-Neuter-Release program. In addition, our team also strives to educate the public about the importance of spaying or neutering their pets to decrease the number of unwanted pets.

C.A.T.S. is not a shelter in the traditional sense; we rely on private foster homes to house the many unwanted animals in our care.

Our Resale Shop (80 Kinderkamack Road in Westwood, NJ) helps fund our efforts. Please consider donating to our Resale Shop. Donations of brand-new and gently-used items are needed year-round and can be donated during shop hours Monday – Saturday 10:00 – 5:00.
